First new Spyderco in a while -- Endura K390

Been a while since I bought a new Spydie but I've been wanting to add an Endura to the line-up since forever. So when the K390 ones came out I was very intrigued, as a fan of tool steels. Went between the Endura and the Endela for a bit but ultimately the Endura won out.

Wow, have I been impressed with this steel! Absolutely incredible edge-holding. Not only that but I love the colour of the scales and the fit and finish is absolutely impeccable. I have some older Spydies with lockbacks and they tend to have a tiny bit of play in them. Not this one. Lock up is solid and everything about the knife is perfect.

Really glad I chose this model. It disappears in the pocket and yet offers tremendous cutting power and edge-holding. Really a great value knife when these things seem to be getting more expensive all the time. I also like that its a regular production model so we don't have to hunt for it and pay inflated prices.

Good job with this one Spyderco!

Sal, I do enjoy it. In fact, my very first serious knife was a Spyderco, the Pro-Venator (a long time ago). It's been a fun journey and the steel choices we now enjoy are quite amazing. Largely I think due to your company always pushing the envelope.
 
Been wanting to try k390 for awhile, I think it's past time so the Endura looks like perfection.

I have been carrying a Endela for a month with K390 steel and I think it is about the best steel I have tried. I don't know if this knife will get kick out of my pocket or not. Maybe a delica in K390.
 
Seems like I've been trying to buy a "discontinued" Gen 4 Black G10 K390 Police in the 2ndary market for forever. Whenever one pops up, if it's not priced "too high," it's snatched up almost immediately. Why the heck was it discontinued? :(

I dislike the blue FRN scales on the Gen 4 K390 Police that's still available. Black G10 is my preference. Not blue, red, green, brown, jade, cammo or whatever. Just BLACK G10! Is that asking too much? 🤷‍♂️

I prefer G-10 too but I'll be honest its hard to see a practical difference. I like the light weight of the FRN models and they seem to hold up fine. They're also priced more competitively. My order of preference is micarta > G10 > FRN/nylon but sometimes you have to compromise.
