Since I like finding about certain older knives, I realized that I have no idea which is the first non black coated busse ever offered?
If I had to guess... maybe the SRT?
But I really don't know.
Okay... The SRT was a special offering.
If it wasn't the SRT, which one was it?
And if it was a special offering, Which one was the regular offering that was offered in non black?
Since most early non black Busses are tan, I'm assuming that tan was the first non black color, .. but.... I don't know for certain either.
All info appreciated. thanks.

I got this in trade from my good bro russmo in 2011. My sharpest busse, even after spankin it.

Was told it was one of the first original satin infi blades. My bro knows his stuff so i wouldnt be one to argue : p . I do think it may be the one satin shsh2 in mulders epic shsh2 group pic but could be wrong,,,,, unlikely ; )

Deep seated hatred followed by love wrapped in hate and then baked with love for you Eric. :p You have all the cool stuff.

The first non black coating I ever saw was Desert Tan, that sandy textured light tan material. It was on the series of Desert Tan E handles.

Yep, that is one nice satin SHSH!

Unofficially an LE (1 of ??? Not many) that started it's journey with SKUNK.

Yep that "fuzzy" Tan I hated that stuff, it smooths out if you look at it funny.
Desert Assault Shakers, Desert E-handled, Desert Jacks, Desert Badger 3's................. yuck hated that coating
Now the jungle green oh I like that.

But if you want to get really picky the satin finish Busse's came before any different color coating and the 1st Steelheart was bead blasted ATS 34 so un-coated was before coated.

That is pretty much what I was remembering also - the desert tan and jungle green, and the uncoated original Steel Heart. I got a couple of the BA3s in desert tan, and the coating did seem to get smooth easily. I wish I had an original Steel Heart. :grumpy:

Presentation Grade Straight handled Battle Mistress, first non coated INFI offered for Sale.

Bead Blasted Straight Handled Battle Mistress test and examples, used in Article written by Ron Hood, and the WASP knife, first INFI non coated produced.

8 Satin finished Straight Handled INFI Steel Heart-II's produced at the time of the 2000 Blade show West, "Ghost Busse's"

10 Bead Blasted INFI Police Recruits (could have been 20, but 10 is what I remember)2000 (my oldest Son received out of those the very first Police Recruit Variant, Shortened to just under two inch blade to be legal to carry at the University of California Riverside, Deep Hollow Grind.)

Interesting reading. Thanks guys. All of this happened before my time so I am learning something.

Garth

Every now and then, I'll catch a glimpse of this "fuzzy tan" coating. It always catches my eye when I see an old blade because it looks so much different than the coating we have now. I do have to admit that I'm with Garth on this, I'm learning quite a bit from this thread.

Stupid me. Had two of the DC Police Recruits at one time. :bangshead: :bangshead:

Double cut, satin and black were the earliest "colours" I recall, before, as said, the desert tan came out. I liked that finish a lot. Esp on the Assault Shakers...
