So I made my first HI purchase a couple of weeks ago and was expecting at least a couple more weeks to pass before it was in my hands (my previous experiences with USPS has about that as an average) well much to my delight it arrived at the post office today. They left me a note in my letterbox to go and pick it up so off I went and picked up a strange looking box and rushed home, wasting no time in tearing open the box.
I have to say I haven't chopped anything up with it yet and it is not exactly what I was expecting, so far it is miles beyond what i thought I was getting. The finish is immaculate the edge on it is great it feels strange in the hand being my first kukri I was expecting this but it is nowhere near as awkward as I had in mind, getting used to it will not take long at all I believe. The kami markings on the blade give it a real character it feels good to know you have a tool that a craftsman was willing to put his name on. I'll take some pics and post them on this thread when my camera battery charges up.

I'll put this way: I have absolutely no practical use for my HI khukuri. I live in an apartment in the middle of a city, and the closest thing to trees is the small patch of grass called our backyard. And yet, I cannot stop myself from buying more of them. I've lost almost all interest in folders (something I can actually use) at this point because of damn Himalayan Imports.

I would say that's quite a powerful effect, and you'll experience it soon.

Same here, can remember my last folder and I got myself an AK Bowie on the way and a 4-pin Rajkumar Gelbu Special in order :)

And that's just two of the recent ones :)

BTW you didn't say what model you ordered. You never know it could save your life one day, or at least frighten away a burglar, or the boogeyman at least. Yea Cotherion, I also have an AK bowie on order. Excited to say the least.

My roommate got a Christmas tree for our apartments, and I'm dying to chop it up. The only problem is that our backyard is exposed to like four different houses full of old people/people with young children. I'm sure they would be a bit uncomfortable with me swinging my Deradune around willy nilly :p

The year is 2012...

There's no such thing as far as I'm concerned. I find strange comfort in sharpening and otherwise maintaining my knives, lotioning leatherwear, or simply cleaning and drying glassware to a perfect transparency.

it might make them uncomfortable...but they'll sure be polite about it :-)

An armed society is a polite society?

I know what you mean. 3 weeks ago I owned no HI products, now I have 3.
