Well, I've been toying around so long, I finally broke down "an' bought me a piece a' real steel," i.e. 440c from TKS. So now what I need is some opinions. I've got the form, but the function... Well, let's just say that a quick click of web knife-makers didn't turn up anything comparable. So, I guess, what looks 'right,' what looks 'off,' and what should just plain be scrapped? I spent the last couple of evenings (I have a day job) toying around with the finger grooves, trying to get the ergonomics right. That accomplished, I need to get an idea of what to 'fix' before I start grinding bevels, and mounting up the handles scales... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all...(I know, the photos suck...)

Forgot to mention: Carved from 1 1/2" x 1/8" x 12" 440C, OAL 12 1/8" with a blade/handle length of (from top of 'hook') 5 1/4 : 6 7/8. I just did my ususal and grabbed the bar, took a Sharpie, and sorta went '...ehh, yeah, that looks right.' Then ground away...

It'll be a beauty. Grind it, heat it and scale it. I like the attention to symetry.

Forgive me but, Give it up now. You have no talent at all and should keep you're day job.
And just make sure that you dont grind to much before heat treat as i am sure that you will make everyone here sick with what it looks like afterwords. I Wish I could call You a NEWBIE.
Nice lines, Keep up the good work.

DRILL YOUR HOLES FIRST! :) It is much easier to drill now than after you have the bevels ground.

Looks good so far!

cray, is right! its also a he@@#$ safer to drill now. things can get real intense all of a sudden when the blade gets away from you and you have a bevelled edge spinning on you!

It's a good feeling isn't it to have that blade blank ready to become your first knife? I bet you can hardly wait to drill your holes, lay out the grind lines, fire up the grinder...

Well, get with it! Time's a wastin! :D
