I finally created a profile and placed an order from HI. I ordered the Chiruwa and feel like a giddy child in anticipation. I have a decent collection of Japanese culinary knives and this is my first Khukuri even though I have wanted one since I was young. I am purchasing it to be used mainly for camping, hiking, and hunting.

Does anyone know what the delivery times usually are from date of order? I live in Houston, Texas. I just am curious as I have not read any of the threads that stated any information on estimated delivery of orders. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Ok. I thought that was specifically for the Deal of The Day items. I was hoping that it would apply to the website orders as well.
Thank you for your response.

DOTD and Website items come from the same place.
Thank you for your order.

Bear in mind that this does not include weekends, holidays or circumstances beyond HI's control.

HI items are shipped thru a trans-dimensional worm-hole in space and frequently arrive before you even think you've ordered. aunty has an arrangement with dr. who & the tardis.

yeah most of us get the mail very promptly from auntie, I know you wont be disappointed with your purchase, welcome to the family.

Welcome neighbor and nice choice. Your only about an hour and half from me so i will say two days usually. Dont forget no July 4 shipping. Im assuming its in stock.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. It looks like it will be slightly delayed due to the Nut N Fancy review of HI. I am glad it brought more business to what seems to be an outstanding company from the Kamis all the way to the Front of the House. Has anyone had any issues carrying these around camping areas or State Parks? I can see some people being intimidated by them.

I have not had any issues, a few stares, a lot of questions, but nothing negative. Actually, quite a few people have asked, "where can I get one?", and of course, I say, "go to Himalayan Imports on the web"

Auntie got it shipped out today. So excited. She is so sweet and very patient and kind in her responses to my questions and concerns. I get to take it on a test run next weekend at Lake Somerville.

Oh I will. I told Auntie I would post a pic of me holding the CAK. I told her I was half Filipino and half Texan but most people think I am Samoan due to me being 6'4" almost 300 lbs. She told me I was a tall gentleman who could swing a 30" CAK with no problem lol. Thinking of taking the wife up to Reno to visit some friends and stop in and meet with her while we are there.

Yep, next purchase maybe try on 30" CAK. 6'4" almost 300 lbs...how many food you will eat one day as usual.

I don't eat a ton, but I take after my father who was also 6'4". Some call me a Filitexan or a Texapino, but back in my Brown and Root days most of my co=workers called me Baby Huey.

Man your less than an hour from me so im just gonna look for some big arse dude 6' plus swinging a big CAK and I know its you! Im pretty sure your probably the only one there with a Khukuri! As long as its a tool for processing wood and your carrying it to its working destination and you dont call it a weapon or something if you get pulled over with it you should be ok. I think the laws here are if your carrying it to a location where you plan to do the job, or you are bringing it in for repairs etc it is ok. You just cant carry it in your car everyday for "protection". You have to be carrying it to a location where you plan to use it for utilitarian use clearing someones lot, camping or whatever. There are some exceptions in Texas (San Antonio and Corpus Christi) and they are to be avoided whenever possible. Just keep in mind its not a weapon and not for personal protection. I stash mine in the trunk on the trip and as far as the world knows its a machete going to do a job. Enjoy the lake!

I would not wield any blade as a weapon unless it was my last option. It will be for camping, bushcrafting, and hunting and will be triple wrapped and packed during transport. I do appreciate the heads up. I plan on using it mainly for firewood and as needed for some possible trailblazing. I want to take my time getting a feel for the blade and the safe handling before I trust myself out on more adventurous trips. It seems like it would not take too much of a slip up to cause some serious damage with a CAK.

Ndog or anyone who knows, how long does it take for site membership to update? I donated for membership earlier today and was just curious.

Thanks.
