Thank you! Yes the welt does go all the way around. Would it be a good idea to skive down the welt a bit on the outer edge of the belt loops? 3 layers of 7-8oz leather seems pretty thick for around a belt loop.

Yes and removing it altogether on the spine side might work for ya too on that design.
 
Not so much with a drop point like your knife. With a trailing point like a Sharpfinger or something yes. With one of those I’ll do the bottom third or so.
