Hey Y'all,

Just got my first "proofs" of my Michael Volclae sheath. It's not quite finished. He still has to make the pouch and the Allen wrench loop. He just wanted me to OK the colors and general design. I have a few pics of the unfinished one, but just going to post one of those. Plenty to follow when the finished product gets here in hopefully a week or less. Here ya go....might want to have some Kleenex handy....

That looks awesome. Heading to that site now. Did it cost an arm and a leg, or just a leg? Because I'll trade a knife or two for maethor's leg to give you for one! :D

Hey Nadz, remember, it'll have a pouch and another loop (for an Allen wrench) on it, so I don't think it was either an arm or a leg. Maybe a left nut, which I wasn't using anyway! HA! Anyway, at $150 including shipping, I feel like it was a great value, considering that the only other thing on the market that came close for my tastes was the Hedgehog at more than $250 bucks. And this one looks better (I think) and I like the Kydex/leather combo, which Hedgehog doesn't offer. Also, the last time I looked, Hedgehog doesn't offer their models in "convertible" styles. This one can be worn vertical, horizontal, right or left handed by simply unscrewing and flipping a strap here and there. I'm totally happy with the price, and Michael has been a joy to work with.

Hey Daze,

I'm not positive, but I'm guessing they are holes for mounting the pouch. If it's not apparent when the finished product gets here, I'll ask Michael and then come back here and fill you in. :)

I think you've officially punked us all out. That is awesome.

Definitely not my intention Bro. I guess it's kinda like jewelry or a killer strap for a guitar or whatever. Just something I don't really need, but wanted just for the sake of the art and the craftsmanship involved in making it. In another life I was a silversmith and worked closely with a lot of top-notch leathersmiths. Just never got the lust for it outta my system. Saw this smith's stuff and put some things up for sale so I could have one of his sheaths. Totally about self-indulgence, nothing about wanting to show anyone else up. Sometimes ya just gotta be good to yourself. :D

New pics of the (almost) finished product. Ships tomorrow (Monday). Should be here Wed. or Thur. I guess. I go in for cataract surgery Tuesday morning, so hopefully I'll not only be able to see it better than I can see these pics, but I'll be recovered enough to take some of my own pics. So wish me luck on both counts, and with that, I give you Sheathzilla:

Still one Allen wrench loop to come at a later date. Not sure how it got missed, but it wasn't important enough for me to hold up shipping. Not holding it against the maker at all. Stuff happens, and I'm stoked with the outcome.

Looks nice Blues. Is that pouch sitting on top of the keeper strap?
