Mike,
I can't see the pic. You better send me the knife, I'll take a picture and post it for you ;):D:D

Just kidding, great looking knife.:):) Nice work for your first pic.

The picture posted.

Do you want to keep it in my safe to protect it from all those that would try to get it from you :)

I've never heard of the Busse "Smokey" (BTW, that's the only Busse I can think of with a one-word name). Could someone enlighten me with some info on it?

Huh, I've never heard of one either!
Poor Mike, he probably ordered a knife from Smokey Mountain and thought he was getting a Busse:( That's completely understandable though bro, everyone makes mistakes:) Why don't you send me that cheap import and I'll send you an real, honest to God, (worn only a few times:p, Busse T-shirt in trade:D

Strabs, now thats funny! :)

Smokey looks like a cool little knife. Those handles appear to be nicely curved and comfortable. Anyone know where it fits into the timelime in respect to knives like the Police Recruit, Mean Street, Assault Shaker, etc...?

Is that Smokey a full 1/4" thick? it looks thinner, but maybe it's my eyes / the pic...
Yo, Jerry: what IS the history of this lil jewel?
Weez B wantin' to know!

Tarnation, i smell Nuclear Powered Smoke!
And where there's Smokey, there's fire!

After drinking Carling over the years? We'll see! ;) :D

1/8" D-2. The Smokies were never officially classified as Busse knives as they were never actually produced under our company name. They were made by up and coming apprentices who were taught how to grind and shape handles on them. They were originally used as shop knives. . . . glue scrapers, string cutters, that sort of thing. Some of them made their way to shows and were sold as apprentice knives at very low prices. . . $55.00 - 75.00. They offer great bang for the buck.

If Mabel doesn't fail me I believe that they were made in the late 1980's and started to leak out of our shop a few years later in the early to mid 1990's.

Nice find,

Jerry

Thanks for that info & historical update, Jerry!
Nice string-cutter...
When "up-and-coming apprentices" at the Busse Knife Shop make "garbage blades" they come out smelling like a $200 Dozier!
Go figure: quality is where ya find it...

Does anyone else just feel like quiting their job, throwing on that old apprentice cap, and going to Busse land for a few years? :)

Heck yeah DN!:D

Nothing beats getting sparks in your eyes and having a grinder suck you in when you forget to tuck your shirt back in after making a pit stop at the official Busse team outhouse!

Jerry,

What about the Busse name-stamped ones I've seen pics of?

OOOHHH Yessssss!
What's a little sparkle in the eyes, Strab? (& it was an old shirt anyway!) Of course, if I MYSELF were sucked into a grinder making INFI-Blades: whatta way to go...! ;)
Workin' at the Ol' Grind has never been so blissful!
