I was just wondering what the first pocket knife that had a pocket clip was? I would guess that it was a Spyderco but I really don't know.
Thanks a lot,
Gene

Depending on how you define it, the pocket knife was invented more than 2,000 years ago. By comparison, the pocket clip on knives was introduced in the early 1980s. Sal Glesser of Spyderco created the “Clip-it” Worker, which was essentially the first tactical folder ever and the first to use a pocket clip. That knife went into production in 1981.

Side note: I was seven at the time.

yeah earlier knives played with clips. I dont know all the history so I wont pretend to here..........but spyderco I give credit for bringing into the mainstream and sending everyone into adding clips.

Thanks Guys! I have always been more of a traditional knife kind of guy but have been trying to expand my knowledge lately. I appreciate the information.
Thanks again,
Gene

For me, it was a Native 5 LW in S110V steel. Carried it with the original clip for a week or two, and then ordered a deep carry clip from MXGgear.

Clips have been around for a long time, just didn't go main stream. A couple melon testers from the early very 1900's.
