I made this one really quick, when my Viper #47 came in.

Used some scrap tooling leather from Tandy. I needed to wet it a little more to get a deeper stamp at the start.

Decided not to dye this one. I need some light brown dye. Tired of the medium color on everything.

Obviously I keep learning every day I touch leather.

Still having a blast.

Nice work. Pocket slips are fun to do.

That stamp is a little bit difficult to get lined up perfectly. Definitely harder than a typical basket weave.

I do one row (usually vertical) then set my pattern off of that. Nestle the wing into the pocket left by the two next to it if that makes sense. Even if you're really careful and take a lot of time doing it, you still need perfectly cased leather otherwise it'll distort enough that it'll mess the pattern up the further out you go.

Might consider just oiling with some warm neats foot oil. It would give it a nice glow.
