Heya Gang,

This is my very first post and I'm excited to be here. I just started restoring some old axes and hatchets I found and thought I would put up my first before/after pics. Please be kind, I'm new!

And would anyone be able to date this? I found the new handle in a random stop in a store near here. It was just hanging on the wall and matched the head (that I had just vinegar soaked, sanded, and oiled last week).

BCWoodsman, welcome to the forum!

That looks like a great little tool you put together. How old is it? I'm exactly not sure when they were marked like that but several of the heads I've come across didn't have handles quite that nice.

The eyes on those are a little bigger than the standard so it seems like a boon to find a handle that readily.

Nice work.

Good job. Most likely it's 1960s-1980s. It's had a hard life, I'm glad you rescued it.
