First post and a question

I am new to the forum. Only been a member for a few days, but have always liked knives. I have a question. I know many of you are experts and know that each knife has a .specific purpose, but I would like to get a knife that could both be used as a camp knife and a survival knife. I am no spring chicken (60 years old) and used to be a cowboy action shooter, so I am gravitating towards a bowie type knife. However, I will consider all information you can provide. So what type of knives might serve my purpose, what brands and/or custom knives, what blade lengths, etc.?
 
Welcome to the forum! What do you see yourself using the knife for in camp, and in what environment would you be using it?
 
I've been thoroughly happy with my Condor Golok, and I think most would agree that this is a awesome tool to have

 
Some good options off the top of my head: Ontario RAT II, ESEE Junglas, ESEE 6, Cold Steel Trailmaster, Becker BK9, Becker BK 7,
 
Have Alan Davis make you one the way you want it. He does both fixed blades and folders. As for productions Spyderco, Benchmade, Kershaw, and Cold Steel to name a few brands. Good Luck! Kevin :D
