Hello all...

It has been only recently that I have had the funds to purchase Chris Reeve knives. I have two, a large plain, and a large classic. They are the best knives I have ever owned! The only problem is that I am now hooked.

My question is: Exactly how much care and "babying" is required to keep a damascus blade in good condition (specifically the damascus used in Chris Reeve's knives).

I'm not big on fancy knives at all, but the wood inlay damasucus blade large Sebenza has really caught my eye. My problem is that I can't see having a knife that I won't use, and I probably wouldn't use this knife.

Also, now that I have heard that there may be a possible blade steel switch away from BG-42, I might want to wait until the new steel is out. Any word on when that will be???

Hero!:D Sounds like you have discovered what a lot of us have, the finest knives available! I don't know a lot about the damascus on CRK's except what I have read from others. As I understand it the bronze damascus is the one you really have to baby. The others are stainless damascus and will only require reasonable care. The same care you would give to your BG42's. With this said I hope someone comes along to correct me if I am wrong.

The wood inlay models are great. The extra thickness of the wood gives you a different feel from the flat feel of the standards, and graphic models. The leather inlay Classic I just got:D has a flat feel but the leather gives a better purchase on the handle. At least I have convinced myself it does;)

Whatever you get you will be pleased. You just can't beat the Sebenza!
