Hi everyone first post here though I'm registered and post regularly in almost every other forum .:p
Just started learning about Busse knives, INFI steel, and I had a newbie question.
Are some of the grip scales I see custom made or are they all original?
I'm asking becuase I just saw orange/black pumpkin scales for a 1911 for sale and was wondering if that kind of job is done sepparately on request by someone. Say I buy a Busse, can someone have those scales made and installed?

By the way I lost my shot a few weeks ago at a Bushwacher with black finish and "pumpkin" (orange/black) grip. If anyone has a similar one and is willing to sell international I'd be happy to do business. Anyway, just thought I'd ask. I'll keep an eye in case someone puts such a BWM up for sale.

You can always send a knife back to Busse for re-handling. Lead time depends on how drunk Jerry is and how busy Garth is.

Changing scales is not very expensive. Orange/black G10 should be available from the Shop. One idea to consider is if you do score a knife, have the seller send it to Busse for new scales, and Busse can ship to you. You would have to have confirmed this plan with Garth in advance, so you don't make the seller wait.
 
Garth can swap scales out for you and has done orange and black for me on several knives. Last time I asked they could not ship me a set of 1911 scales like you saw though. That may have changed recently. Had to keep an eye on the exchange to score a set of those.

Contact Garth, he has always been extremely helpful when I have dealt with him.
 
Same here, scales on a knife, easy to get swapped at the shop but grips for a 1911 are a precious commodity on the X.

BWM's with Orange/Black have recently been posted in the exchange for sale. If you are patient, you will likely see more offered. There is also a Wanted to Buy forum. You can always post there what you are looking for. Some people won't post what they have to sell, but will wait for someone to ask for it.

Welcome to Bladeforums and to Busse. You're already hooked, you just don't know it yet.
