Been reading through posts on this site for the last several months and finally decided to join in. Just wanted to finally put up a first post and join the fun. I've learned more going through some of the stickied posts here than I have in a decade, so want to give a big thanks for such a great resource. Looking forward to learning a lot more and seeing all of the great knives in this group.

My humble first post - Spyderco Gayle Bradley 2 - at least right now, my favorite folder. It just does everything right for me. Really comfortable 4-finger grip, carries well and feels / looks superb, IMO. Most importantly, the cutting performance for my uses is great (I like slicey). The cutting performance, ergos, and "feel" are up there in my favorites in my collection (including North Arm, TRM, CRK, Asher, etc). I have the GB1 as well (which I love), but this one just does it a bit better for me. IMO, it's the Spyderco "Sabenza."

That said, as a Gayle Bradley fan I also love the Advocate...

Well glad you're enjoying it here. This place is like a double edged sword. I've learned a lot. Learning new things keeps life interesting. I've also spent a lot more on knives now so my wallet isn't happy and my woman will likely kill me if she ever finds out what some those things cost. 🤣

Repeat after me "this old thing? I've had it for ages" works for guns as well 😂

Right?! My next purchase is most likely going to be a gun for her. And she's getting a ring for Christmas so hopefully that'll keep her off my back for a while! Didn't realize how damn expensive those things could be.
Protip, take her to the range and try out a few different models, then make mental note of what works for her and get her a nice limited version 😂 that goes for the ring as well, or in my wife's case rings 😳

Well she started off saying she'd just use my 1911 .45. I kept trying to tell her she would hate it. Then we went to the range and rented a few different ones. She hated the short, proved barrel .380. It had a polymer frame though. She refused to shoot the hellcat .45. But to be fair I hated that one, too. Then we rented a 1911 in .22 that she loved. And a 1911 in 9mm that she was ok with. Going to try a different range next and try to find something in 5.7 and let her shoot my 1911 in .45. Which she'll probably hate. I already got her a nice set of matching rings. The pictures don't really do them justice though.

Smart man!

Stringjam7 Stringjam7 the Gayle Bradley was my first Spyderco. I wanted to love it; but the proud liners bugged me. I've been quite tempted, at times, to try the GB2...but everything great I've seen and read about it still falls under the shadow of those liners. I'm totally with you on the Advocate, though (mine is the original version; but no issues so far).

Welcome!! GB 2 is an awesome blade.... Now you just need some micarta scales for it!!👍.
Enjoy the ride.......Oh pics of YOUR collection are now expected😜......
Best
