I've wanted a HEST for a while now, and finally took the plunge (along with a Fire Kit). It arrived today. I'm looking forward to abusing it over the the course of the rest of my life.

Now for an Izula, and an RC-6

(ETA: Is three years any sort of record for longest time from registration to first post? :p)

Yep. Sounds like you've got the bug. Welcome to the obsession!

I find the more I EDC the HEST the more I love it! IT TRULY IS ADDICTING THE ESEE KNIVES.

try wrapping your HEST in paracord also, I find it easier to carry and more concealable carry. in the winter I will put the micarta slabs on mine but now it's really a nice rig for summer. if you dont like the wrap just put the slabs back on.

Love my HEST - just not a pocket carry like my Izzy is.

They're like kids - I don't prefer any one of them over another - they're all great in their own way!

Welcome Buckeye67! It's great to have a fellow Buckeye on board!

You will like the HEST & the ESEE firesteel is a great piece of gear.

Thanks for your military & police service!

Welcome and congrats! I need to get out of this thread, I've had no real interest in the HEST but those pics were pretty good. :D Hmmm....

Grats on the new knife and welcome! Plenty more than just the IZULA and 6 to buy too I bet ;)

Thanks y'all for the welcome and all of the replies. I've had the bug for an ESEE knife for a while now, and decided to treat myself with the HEST & FK as a graduation gift to myself. After being out of active law enforcement for 15 years, I started an academy class in January. It finished up on June 11th, and on the 30th I take the OPOTA state certification test. Then, Lord willin' and the creek don't rise, I'll be able to get back out on the street (or at least well on my way) before the year is out.

Just a little about me (as t-k-c discovered a bit): I served in the US Army Reserve from 1985-1991 as a MOS 97E - Interrogator/Linguist (russian) and then worked as a police officer in northern Kentucky for 5 years from 1988-1993. For the last 12 years I've worked as a police dispatcher and, as I mentioned, I hope to get back out on the street before too long. Other than that I play irish music (whistle & flute) and shoot 3-Gun... not at the same time though.

I'm sure I won't stop with the Izula and RC-6. I'm sure I'll be in for a Junglas and a H.E.S.T. folder if/when those come about. I'm kinda jonesing for a Pack Kit too (probably do that + the RC-6 when I get around to it). ;)

Anyway, I love the knife & Fire Kit and I'm looking forward to more.

Congrats on the H.E.S.T. buy! I've been looking at this one a lot lately. I can't decide if my next ESEE will be this or the 4!

... or both?

Congrats.
You might as well hand over your wallet and credit card to Jeff&Mike :)

Yeah, they're on the list now with Paul Buffoni (BCM), Mark LaRue and the crew at Magpul. :D

I just caught the post about the new ESEE Pack over on facebook. It's right up at the top of the "DO WANT!" list now. All I can say is if this addiction is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Thanks again, everyone.
