It was love at first sight. I tried to resist but I could not…

Am I wrong in thinking this is the same Bushboot from this Fiddleback Friday in February?

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1038972-Fiddleback-Friday-2-15-13

The wood color is different, which may just be the lighting, but the grain is identical. And everything else in the descriptions is the same, except the Arizona listing says the steel is 01 and Andy's listing says CPM 154. Hmmmm…

Not that it matters. I love it either way. :]

I think you are correct. From what I've seen, it looks like Andy sells unsold Fiddleback Friday knives to dealers and that is probably one.

Either way, Welcome to the forums and congrats on a sweet knife!

Hello mrkite, and welcome. Great score! I drooled over that one when Andy posted it. I love the Bushboot model, I carry one regularly, and would love a dagger ground one just because of the old world feel to it. Definitely the same knife just looking at the grain lines, Andy's pics never do his knives justice, and I'd go with Andy's description of the steel type until he says otherwise. The dagger grind and CPM 154 are both up-charges and would explain the price.

Thanks, mistwalker. Yes I'm aware of your affinity for the Bushboot because I've read your excellent posts about the one you carry. Really great pics, btw. And you used a word to describe it that really stayed with me: elegant. Yep, the perfect word to describe the Bushboot. And yes, in regards to the steel type I'm definitely inclined to go with the word of the man that actually made the knife, no doubt. This knife also comes with a Rick Lowe sheathe (who apparently also lives here in Candler), so… absolutely no complaints about the price. Thank you again for the comments and the welcome.

Yes. That is the one and same knife. The steel is CPM 154cm. Juli bought it from my table at Blade Show. Thanks for the support! Pretty small world with you being from Candler also.

Well done mrkite! The Bushboot is a favorite of mine, which I carry, and have sitting on my bench 24/7. You can't go wrong with any of Andy's models and I wouldn't be surprised to see you become a multiple Fiddleback owner:). If you'd like to see and handle a couple other models, give me a shout (665-4523) or email (ruger315@charter.net) and we'll get together and compare!

Hey thanks for the comments, guys. Yeah Andy, I assumed that they just made an error on the ACK site and that you probably actually knew what steel you'd used. :] Thanks for the confirmation! And Rick it would be such a pleasure to meet you and see more of your own work, as well. I'm so pleased that this knife comes with one of your sheathes. That's not specified at the website, and the photo doesn't show much. But I thought I recognized your work so I asked and they confirmed it's an RLO. Kinda sealed the deal for me. Anyway, I'll be in touch, thanks!

So my first Fiddleback purchase is an Andy Roy/Rick Lowe double whammy. Who could ask for more?

Thanks again, guys. Great to be part of this community.

That's a great Bushboot, Mark. I'm really loving the one I scored a few Fridays back.

Thanks Captain. Mine's scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I'll be glad to see that UPS truck coming up the hill.

Welcome aboard Mark! Very fine selection of Andy's work. Quite habit forming I'm afraid. :)

Can't wait to see some photos of her taken care of some chores!

Sincerely,
Mark

Great to meet you Mark! I'm Hugh. I also enjoy a good Fiddleback. That Bushboot is a beauty, congrats. I've been interested in getting a stainless fb for a little while now so let us know how you like it. And post pics! ;)

Congrats again and welcome!

Thanks for the great comments, guys. I'll be sure to let y'all know how I like the FB, but I suspect everyone already knows the answer to that. :] And I'll definitely post pics if I can figure out how.

Thanks again!

Well, this is one disadvantage to living in the country. Once again UPS can't locate my house and delivery is rescheduled for tomorrow. Not the first time, and not only UPS. My favorite was the time I had an item shipped from Canada via USPS. Took three days to get from Canada, two more to get to my house from the Candler post office. :]

Oh well. There are people with bigger problems, no doubt.
