Hey guys, this is actually my first post. I just wanted to put up a picture of the first fire I made with only a ferro rod and my Beckers (mostly Bk2). Which was much more difficult than I actually thought it would be. I've got a BK2 with micarta scales, and a BK14 with G10 scales from TKC, which in my opinion are a pretty awesome combination for any camping experience. Anyway, I'm glad to be apart of the forum, and just felt like it was time for me to finally throw a post out there.

Okay, so Tapatalk seems to have refused to post my photos, so...total fail on first post. Haha, anyway hope to have it figured out once I get around a computer.

You can add Photos, there should be an "edit post" on the bottom righthand corner of your post.

Good luck, and I'm glad you enjoy your Becker's! What Micarta do you have on your BK2?

Congrats on your first fire --- but as you probably know, there is an overused quote around here " If there are no pics it didn't happen". Just kidding of course and hope you solve the photo issue soon.

Your right the bk2 and 14 are a great combination.
What were you using as tender I use either dryer lint a lot of it
Or firewicks and they usually light up fairly quick.

Yeah just for testing purposes, I thought that would be cheating so I went all natural and just used dry grass and wood shavings. It was frustrating at first but when I finally got it going it was pretty rewarding.

Welcome Airlsee!
Nice knives you've got there. A great combo!
Thanks for sharing your fire pics with us.
Glad to have you aboard!

Impressive. I need to figure that one out. I've just been using cotton balls with Blistex or Carmex squished in them.

And - welcome!
