This is my first post - I joined a few weeks ago because I wanted to learn more about folding knives.
I've collected knives for about ten years. Guided by luck and instinct - and a forgiving budget - the very first knife I bought was a Sawby folder. It was a hefty tactical folder that has given really good service - though mostly to my brother who inherited it when I went on to other knives because it was a bit too hefty for me.
My second knife was a simple fixed blade hunter by Randy Martin. Other fixed blade knives by Martin followed. But I still didn't have a good folder.
Eventually, seven or eight years ago, I found a nice simple William Henry in the T12 series and used that steadily, at work, at home, even though it was really a bit more delicate than I wanted.
About three months ago the William Henry went missing. So I wanted to replace it and began really looking for the right knife. Had to be a bit stronger than the William Henry, but not as big as my original Sawby; a one-hand opener, and I rather like liner locks. I wanted it to use - so not too fancy, etc. I felt like Goldilocks, looking for something "just right."
With this in mind, I've been reading BladeForums to see what other folks think. I've been impressed by the popularity of the Sebenza - even though I didn't think I would like the frame-lock. I kept reading, comparing. Finally, at True North Knives, I found what looked like the right knife - a small Sebenza classic with wood inlays - so I took the plunge.
It arrived today, and as I opened the layers of packaging, I prepared myself for disappointment - but as soon as I had it in my hands I was blown away. This is exactly the knife I've been wanting for years. I can't put it down - my right thumb hurts from opening it - I know I'm going to drive my friends nuts with this.
So thanks for all the information that helped me make this purchase. This is one great knife.
