I just aquired a Syderco HK Q knife with the Heckler & Koch Logo in the blade
This is one lightweight and very sharp..
Almost too nice to use as a tool..
I paid $50 & stole it for that price..
No Box but got the Syderco Instructions..
What do you guys use to lube your knives?
I've been using Militec-1 on my Guns & knixes..
I have several Nice knifes Schrade, Benchmade, Gerber, Spyderco..
I'll have to get a pic of this NEW Killer Spderco..
Looks Great with my HK P7M8

Militec works well if its a linered knife, but it doesnt do much for the FRN ones.

As for the Q, just dont use it on peanut butter...

What is a FRN???
I have a Benchmade with the Axis lock, is this like what your refering too?
B92 Knife forum Newbie.. :D

FRN is Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon. It's the name of handle material on your new Q. It's similar to Zytel, but IIRC Spyderco's FRN has a higher proportion of fiberglass to nylon, so it should be stronger.

Benchmade's version is Nortyl GTX.

You got a real good deal on that little Q of yours. I've seen those sell for $100 plus so you done good.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

On the FRN material. Spyderco, like Cold Steel and Benchmade use a superior grade of it. I had a Meyerco knife in the shop one day that I bought just for the lock bar and blade so I could make a new body for it and when I tapped the lock bar pin after grinding the head off the whole body of the knife just snapped in half. Surprised me to beat all because I've never had that happen on any of the 'quality' knives I've taken apart. I can tell you from personal experience that it takes quite a bit to break one of the Spyderco FRN handles compared to that Meyerco.

This makes me very concerned for those that are carrying a cheapy FRN knife because if they knew how fragile that handle really was I doubt they'd want to carry it anymore. There for a while I was dead set against FRN altogether but I still had the leftover pieces of my Salt 1s original body from when I took it apart. There is a night and day difference in the strength of that Spyderco FRN vs the Meyerco anyway, and I suspect it is the case across the board for other 'cheap' made in China or Taiwan brands of knives.

Looks like a guy should only use one micro drop on the blades pivot only..
Here's a few pics I took & posted at the Ruger Forum Showing my Ruger SP101 Collection.
