Hey All, First post here. I have recently acquired an axe affliction. Just bought GB Scandinavian Forest axe and a GB Wildlife hatchet. These are both amazing tools. I have chopped an afternoon little the forest axe and it is perfection. I have yet to use the wildlife hatchet other than small test. But It handles equally well. I have also ordered one of 2Hawks "woodsman" hawk. Should be here soon. 4 week wait. From the way it looks it is worth waiting for. Searching around I have not found much info on it or anyone who actually has one, or a review. Any leads or comments? Also I would like to buy another custom hawk in southeast, where I can go see where it is made. Any leads? Thanks

Hi, JMH. There are a number of custom 'hawk makers who frequent this forum. Keep your eyes open and inquire when you see one of their threads.

Welcome aboard Jmh, this place will make you develop at least a few more afflictions soon enough;) You find by surfing the boards here that a lot of these guys/girls are really good people. As for your question about 2hawks, I own his largest model the Warbeast and it has proven great with the work I've used it for thus far. It hasn't been used and abused by any means but I've certainly broken it in. The one thing you'll need to know about his hafts is that they can swell/shrink with the change in temps so the head might losen a bit but Devin says all you have to do soak it in water to make it swell back up. Of course you could just opt for the head wrap that Devin offers to deal with this issue but I was to cheap to spend the extra $25 since the hawk was already $250,lol. Recently I read that one guy had one break on him but other than that Devin has a great reputation and his products are top notch. He also makes the new Pathfinder hawk for Dave Canterbury's Pathfinder school which might actually be the woodsman with a Pathfinder logo and maybe a slight difference but I'm not sure. As someone previously stated you can find numerous great hawk makers on this board. Kentucky makes a mean hawk and you should really check out the Cold Steel trailhawk modification board cuz you will see some amazing mods. As for a few other good makers off the top of my head I can think of Fort Turner, JK, North River Custom knives, HBForge, Iron Creek Forge, and many more. Poke around see what floats your boat. I hope some of this info is helpful for you. One ax that got a great review recently was Council's Velvicut ax that actually has a head made from 5160 which is unusual but awesome:D Oh and don't forget Condor Knife & Tool, tons of stuff and very nice prices.

Welcome aboard JMH, you're infected now, posting here confirms it. The best and worst thing about this affliction, the next hawk will not be your last.:D
