This is my first post in the Swamp Rat forum here on Blade Forums. I've posted a few time on the Rat Chat under the user name "El Toro". Don't ask about my current screen name, I came up with it before discovering what Swamp Rat was all about!:grumpy: (By the way can I change my screen name here without creating a new account?)

I purchased a few swamp rats over the last moth or so. The first was an M6, my second was an INFIcoot. I just ordered a BADASS sheath from Armoralleather for the Coot which should be here in a few months. In the mean time thought I'd have a go at making a similar horizontal carry style sheath to hold me over.

It's not quite finished yet, I still need to add a keeper strap for the handle and a belt loop on the back. Instead of using leather for these parts, I'm going to use some Coyote Brown cordura. I didn't use any dye on the leather, instead I opted for a straight Bee's wax finish. The finish is a bit darker than how it appears in the picture. It's been a case of trial and error using Bee's wax. With the first sheath I made for the M6, I dunked the entire thing, soaking the inside as well. It dried to be hard as a rock! With the INFIcoot sheath I was careful not to get any on the inside. While it is still pretty hard, its not quite bullet proof like the M6 sheath I made.:D Here's a couple pics, let me know what you guys think.:)

Thanks, this was my first go at using stitching. I didn't take any pictures of the backside because it doesn't look as good as the front. I haven't purchased and awl yet, so I used a small drill bit on a dremel. It's tough to get those holes straight without a drill press. At my next go I hope an awl will be easier to use.

congrats on the bandicoot  real nice work on the sheath, thanks for posting pic's:thumbup:

Welcome! :D

CongRats on both Rats, especially that INFICoot - great snag. And that sheath looks great, too! Be sure to post some more pics when it's finished

Great looking sheath, TOPSfan ...and great snag on those Rats!

Welcome to the forum!

:D :D

Welcome to the Forum!

Nice work on the sheath, and nice knives!

-you can have your name changed, but there is a $10 charge I think.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! Is there really a $10 charge?

Anyhow heres some before an after pics of the M6 sheath. At first it was going to be a horizontal carry, but changed my mind abd turned it into a regular vertical carry sheath. I used the same dark bee's wax finish, but it turned out much darker with this sheath.

I think my screen must be messed up. That INFICoot and sheath look orange (and AWESOME) to me. Is it really tan/tan and I'm just color blind? Does anyone else see that as orange, too? Great snag BTW. There are only a couple hundred of those floating around, right? And you got one right out of the gate as your second Rat? That's awesome.

Yeah, that picture does look a bit orange. The camera just doesn't get the color right. With the flash on, the color is too bright. In person, the knife looks more like that "Coyote Brown" color. I also snagged a few Battle Rats and a Battle Guard. I like the res-c handles much better than the micarta one on the M6. They're much more comfortable IMO.

Yeah, it's a tan on tan one. I have one of those. I was just saying that it's really cool you got one right off like you did. There were only 200ish Bandicoots made in INFI.

A "few" Battle Rats? I like the way you think. One for beating on and one for back up, right? I totally agree about the Res-c, but careful who you say that to around here. It's all micarta these days. Don't get me started.
