Well met, brothers of the blade
smile.gif
. This being my first post I would like to start off by telling you who Feanor is( in case you dont't already know) So without further ado... "In that time was born in Eldamar, in the house of the king in Tirion upon the crown of tuna, the eldest of the sons of Finwe, and most beloved. Curufinwe, was his name, but by his mother he was called Feanor, Spirit of Fire; and thus he is remembered in all the tales of the Noldor. ...All his love he gave thereafter to his son; and Feanor grew swiftly, as if a secret fire were kindled within him. He was tall, and fair of face, and masterful, his eyes piercingly bright and his hair raven dark; in the pursuit of all his purposes eager and steadfast. Few ever changed his courses by counsel, none by force. He became of all the Noldor, then or after, the most subtle of mind and the most skilled in hand. ..." This is but a small taste of the wonder that is J.R.R Tolkien's The Silmarillion.
I have been lurker here on the forums for quite some time now; reading posts from "mutual" friends for the past year. I figured it was high time I got off my vicarious @$$ and start posting for myself.
That being said, I am 31, I consider myself a writer by trade but work by suckling @ the corporate teat( I work for AT&T Wireless Services). Im fairly new to this fever of knife collecting/using, but have always admired all weapons from swords to even the smallest folder. I currently own a TOPS: Firestrike, Kershaw: Mini-Task(daily carry(yes even to the office against my better judgement
wink.gif
)) CRKT: Komodo and a CRKT M-16.
And I am very pleased to write that I have a custom serrated Hawkbill, fixed blade on order from Alan Folts. I will post a pic of it as soon as it arrives. I am looking forward to many hilariously enlightening discussions( don't worry I read through the whole MAD DOG Debacle, so I wont bring it up(ooooppps, did I just bring it up?)So thanks for your time and hope to speak w/ you all soon.

Feanor,

I would welcome you to Bladeforums, but you have already been lurking, so I will say welcome to the wonderful world of posting!!

I too lurked for some time (six months) before I posted. I think that is the best way to get a feel for a place before you open your mouth. (Although six months certainly isn't necessary)

Take care,

Welcome knife-friend. I grew up reading JRR Tolkien and I credit the numerous mention of swords, knives, and axes in his books to be chiefly responsible for my knife addiction.

Now the question I've been dying to ask: What was Aragorn's sword Anduril made of? Was it differentially hardened, multiple quench, triple tempered 52100?

Feanor, welcome my brother of steel. Tolkein is great, did you ever try Dunsany. He was just as good. His character Alveric carried a sword forged by a witch from meteorite iron she dug from her cabbage patch. The book is THE KING OF ELFLAND'S DAUGHTER. Try it, you will like it.

Feanor,

It's about time you started posting, you ever lurkin bastid

I have trouble sleeping, knowing that you are "watching".

Welcome aboard!! It's been too long in the making(20 years)

Wow! This is Grrrreat! (spoken like the great sage Tony the Tiger). Two literate newcomers in one week (I'm including Metal-Demon here because excellant use of language, even if his musical tastes are somewhat suspect)

I did the same thing Feanor. I lurked for months before finally signing up so that I could post. It's a good thing really, because you get a feel for how it all works, who's who, and what not to do.

Welcome. I'm sure your will find participation at BFC is a lot more fun than merely lurking. I especially like that you know how to wipe the Mad Dog Doo Doo of your feet before coming in here. I appreciate that. It makes the whole place smell nicer.

Welcome aboard! However, I'm glad the lurking is over, I have enough real and imagined people watching my every move. I'm not much of a fan of Frodo, but I do watch the dwarves in Washington. You'll like it here.--OKG

Welcome to BFC! We generally think of the smallest folders as tools though.
