First post, show off and question!

man i don't know doodly about rafting axes. i have read some about logging in the old times and have seen rafts made and tugged on youtube.
never have i seen a rafting axe. i do have one straight maul/axe handle in the shop. i'll see if i can find it.
interesting info behind these rafting axes.

From the pictures this very much appears to me to be a 'hardened poll' axe. Try passing a sharp file over the top. If it bites hard it's ordinary steel but if the file skates and refuses to do much then lo & behold you suddenly have become an owner/wielder of an uncommon and unsung multi-tool that is both an axe and a durable hammer.
