After several weeks of lurking on this board and, particularly, this forum, I just wanted to say, "Hello and thanks". I have found the people here to be both very friendly and a wealth of knowledge, and I wanted to express my gratitude. I thought I was fairly knowledgeable about knives; however, I have found how much I truly need to learn.

To insure my post in on topic, my EDC is a plain small Sebenza carried in a cordura belt sheath. That should change in a week or so when I receive my classic large Sebenza with blue leather inlays. My intent was to get a plain large; however, the leather inlay was just a bit more money and looks interesting. The great stories about everyone's experience with Chris Reeve Knives made my purchase decision much easier than it otherwise would have been.

The bad news is the burl wood inlays are really calling my name, especially the burled maple. Since I primarily use my knives as tools, I am finding it very difficult to justify the purchase of a burl maple. But it looks so good!!! It is only a matter of time now; I am hooked.

Thanks again to everyone here.

Welcome to bladeforums:)

I've only recently jumped on the sebenza band-wagon. Got my first(small plain classic) about a week or two ago. Awesome knife. This forum will make your knife affliction turn into a knife addiction pretty fast.

Hope you have fun here:)

Welcome Scott! You have truly made it to a place where there is a wealth of knowledge. I think we all learn something new here ona regular basis, I know I do.:) You will absolutly love the large leather inlaid Classic. I have one in brown leather that is my edc. I only rotate it when I want to carry my large Madagascar rosewood inlaid Classic:D I agree that it is not much more money over the plain jane model to upgrade to the wood and/or leather inlaid Classics. A real bargin in my book! :D

Post some pics and your impressions when it arrives.

Welcome to BFC, Scott.

Sebenzas are addicting.

For me the small Left Handed Sebenza is the ultimate EDC.

I had to buy the plain large, small and Umfaan to find that out.

Now that I have a small plain (that I carry every day); I can't bring myself to use my small wood inlay Sebenza. :(

If I knew what I know now; I would have only bought the small wood inlay and used that.

Yes, welcome -- you are much wiser than me, having accepted the "gospel of Sebenza" much faster than me :)

Welcome to the fold, I find the Classic to have a ... well Classic shape and love those the best, had most of them and now down to just the small Classic, love the guard and the narrower point. The woods are great though and they fill the hand just a little bit more to make it nicer feeling, IMHO...;)

Scott, how do you like the cordura belt sheath? Is it the one from Chris Reeve? Has it changed the finish on your knife? Is it easy to access. I am looking for a belt carry method for my small Classic and would appreciate your feedback.

Rev. Pete,

My sheath is actually from an old Gerber knife that I have salvaged to use with my Sebenza. It is a sheath with a flap that folds over and "attaches" to the sheath body with velcro. I tend to get my body in very unusual situations (like upside down in a car) and retention and protection is more important than speed of access. I use my right hand to open the flap and withdraw my knife.

So far, the knife finish is unafffected by the sheath.

Hope this helps.

Scott
