you might want go get some mre's so you can eat

powerbars will suffice... the bag is mainly for getting out of my building and all the extra stuff is just in case... i could pack more powerbars

Welcome to Blade Forums! Seems that you have a well thought out kit, but here some things that I would suggest adding:

- More water. Bottled water is good (the hard plastic bottles keep longer than the soft plastic milk jugs). Forget about the survival straw - get a real water filter and/or some purification tabs. A small aluminum pot with a lid (or even a coffee can) is useful for boiling/purifying water as well. Keep extra bottled water at home in your car and at work, if possible.

- Eye wash and dust masks to deal with the dust of a building collapse.

- More fire starting gear – an extra disposable lighter and a couple of straws filled with cotton balls saturated with petroleum jelly should do.

- Sunscreen, DEET bug repellant, sunglasses, and a wide brimmed hat.

- Knit hat and space blanket for cold weather.

- Small trowel for digging.

- Snaplights for signaling/marking a location.

- Base plate orienteering compass.

- Imonium AD.

- Walking stick.

i just need enough water to get home... i normally keep myself hydrated throughout the day drinking water regularly
the straw is "just incase"

i was thinking about packing eyewash but wouldnt water suffice? i wouldnt want to use any water and i pray i get my goggles and reconwrap acting as a dust mask on in time.... hmmmm i'll think about the eyewash

im not concerned with fire starting really... im sure there would be tons of stuff around to get a fire going

sunscreen, bug repellant, sunglasses or a hat to keep the sun off of you isnt really neccessary where i live...

i will think about the space blanket...one time use sucks

its hard to dig into concrete lol... i wont be needing a trowel

i'll pick up a few glowsticks from the sporting goods store this week

dont need a compass since i live in the city... the small one on my tool logic card will suffice

runs medicine is a great idea... it would suck not being able to hold in your dump during a disaster

a walking stick would be to awkward for everyday carry... unless i can find a really small collapsable one to fit in the bag... but im not sure how strong that would be

you can always just improvise with the suff you have , I would take about 50% less stuff and more food and water. A blanket is a good idea to treat shock and those hot cold packs that are instant.

Jeez, not to rain on your parade or anything, but what are you planning on WW3 w/virus outbreak, mass hysteria, total ellipse, earthquake, tornado, terrorist and zombies all at once?! lol :D

I understand you feel the need to be prepared, but it seems that in the event that you would actually would need to utilize this sort of emergency kit . .I'd think water would be most important, next to a first aid kit, knife and utility tool, which is all I'd have in a emergency kit. Some of the things you packed are not mandatory for survival .. like smokes, and an ear piece . .so I'd rethink the water. . it has so many uses besides hydrating that can be helpful, and shelf life is looooong. You took a lot of time and effort in this post and it was thought provoking. I always felt that only some necessities are important. I was recently involved in a motorcycle accident and my bike was just repaired . was going to sell it for a car (not to quit motorcycling Im not quitter) but thought since I live in L.A. . .in the event of a disaster, the roads will be not an option of escape . .either due to traffic or damage .. a motorcycle is part of my emergency kit .. it holds enough gas to get me way out of L.a and nothing will stop me . .well almost . .if your serious about your safety and mass panic in a city is assured in a disaster, a motorcycle could be very useful. .what do you think?

Welcome to the forum.

And don't listen to the guys who have never actually dealt with a Zombie attack. Whatta they know? :D

It was a light hearted joke;)

What did you thik about my water/motorcycle Idea?

i totally agree with the water idea... but water is so freaken heavy
32oz. is enough i think for a person to carry normally everyday. i just ordered some water purification tablets and i'll carry a couple of coffee filters in my bag just incase.... agian, my bag is just so i can get from point A to B... i have tons of ro/di reserve water at home because of my other hobby :)

as for the motorcycle idea... its great and ive always considered getting a bike

as for the handcuff key... i dont even own a pair of handcuffs
BUT! i always fear that some idiot would cuff me and leave me stranded...
zipties, rope & tape could be cut but a solid pair of handcuffs would leave me stuck, robbed and probably naked lol... the key takes up little space and only cost me pocket change

If your left tied up with rope, tape or zipties, how are you going to cut yourself free? Also, if your left handcuffed and naked where do you keep the key? It's stuff like this that keeps me awake nights.

lol yeah ive thought of that... but lets just say somebody comes around to rescue me... how would "they" remove the cuffs??? i would just tell them to get my keys... its best knowing that there is a key around vs. not having one at all

im sure my pants or keys would be left behind if somebody robbed me..... how often do you look at a normal persons keychain for a set of cuff keys? it could be easily overlooked :) and could save my bare butt

and as you can tell... its a great conversation piece lol
