Hi,this is my first post on the Busse forum.I just traded for my first Busse.It is a BA-E.Could someone tell me a little about it.I am mostly into Spydercos and know very little about Busse except that it seems that they are the best combat knives on the market.Many Thanks

Sorry dude, but you got taken. Busses suck, but I'll take that blade off your hands for 50 cents on the dollar just because I'm a nice guy... ;)

Seriously, it's a nice sized knife for all-around cutting. What are you going to use it for?

Badger Attack E-Handle Specs:

* 1/4" INFI Steel * 5" Blade * 10" OAL * 12.5 oz * 58-60 RC *
* Micarta Handle * Combat Grade *
* Badger Attack E Model Retired In February 2002 *

Badger Attack Trivia:

The rear talon hole was left off for three reasons:

1.) It allows for more concealable or easy day-to-day carry due to its shorter length.

2.) The Badger Attack has been one of our most popular knives to be employed as a big game hunter. (Elk, Caribou, Bear, etc. . .) In order to facilitate this application where the knife will be used in an upside down fashion for a good period of time, it became obvious that the rear talon was going to be in the way, thus the removal.

3.) It is very difficult to chop with a short blade. The removal of the rear talon allows for comfortable "choking back" on the handle so that you can employ a 3-finger grip (no pinky) and you can achieve very impressive chopping results with this blade. This "choking back" simply lengthens the knife and offers a better "chopping balance" point.

As for losing the advantage of the rear talon hole for lanyard purposes, I think that you'll be more than pleasantly surprised as to how comfortable the knife still feels with the lanyard run through the rear tube flange. We have even attached a cord-braided D-guard to the BAE using the front talon hole and rear flange.

Hope this helps,
Jerry Busse

i can personally say that i like the e handles better then the straight handles (from the ba-3), and im sure id like the new tacticle/fushion/special forces handles even better for the upper palm swell, though i probably wont be able to afford any of them.

i hope i wasnt to out of line by qouting badmojo....

and of coarse theirs infi :) it uses a chemical that only s30v uses (to get its incremental benefits over bg-42), and has a low carbon content.

its a steele like no other :)

made for cutlery, it never chips, and rarely rolls, holds an edge very well, and is easy to sharpen (where as paul bos bg-42 took me some 40 hours to reprofile - infi takes me about 4-6 hours). it also has an intense amount of lateral strength (prying)
and, while not stainless, its pretty close to it.

one of the major idea's behind infi is to make a steel thats much tougher then any on the market, that can still be sharpened, and actually holds a decent edge. all of wich it has done in spaids.

is the end all steel for all uses? of course not, but its damn fine for beating the crap out of :D

Welcome to the Busse Forum. Glad you stopped by.

The BA-e, one of my favorite Busses. It is a great all around knife :D:D

I will use it as a hunting,fishing and camp knife.I have been useing a Spyderco Military and it is good but there are some things you just can't do with it without worrying about breaking the tip or chipping the edge.

you got a good 'en. The E Badger is my favorite Busse, and it's a great all around camp knife. Just get some time to go out in the woods and beat the hell out of it and I'm sure you'll be impressed. It's not exactly a blade I'd use for food prep, but that's what you have a Military or something else for, but I'm sure it could be used for that as well.

Welcome U812! Sounds like you started of with one "hell-for-stout" blade!

Congrats!

Jerry

Jerry.I hope its as stout as I think it will be.Its crinkle coat was sanded down to a smooth black finish.I don't mind because I am going to use it but if I decided I want the original finish can I send it in to be done and if so how much would it be?

Give the shop a call and they will give you a quote. There are times in the production schedule when we do not accept modifications due to backlogs.

Thanks,

Jerry
