I just got #1 of 500 and the tip is actually sharp. I've owned the ATS 34 version and its tip was too dull to cut flesh but this one bites. Were all of the BG42 Strider tantos ground that way?

Also, are all the first production run 880's marked 1 0f 500?

Hi there, The 880 that I had was one of the original 500 BG42. It was marked 1 of 500, but the tip was not sharp enough to do other than punch a hole in a tank. :)

Yep, all of the first production run 880 tantos were marked "1 of 500". The 880 spear point ones were marked with individual serial numbers. The sharpness of the tips probably vary due to hand finishing of the edge.

Thanks for setting me straight on the numbers guys. Now I'm thinking of satin finishing the blade and thinning the scales like the other Strider thread floating around.

Yes all of the tanto first production run in BG-42 are marked "1 of 500", meaning that they are one of 500 made, not serial number zero zero one of 500. All 500 are marked "1 of 500".

I believe the mini tanto ones are the same

Now the Buck Strider Spearpoint and the Buck Strider Mini Spearpoint first production run IS serialized, starting with #001, 002, 003...and on to 500.

I have serial number 001 of 500, First Production Run, Buck Strider Spearpoint, in BG-42. In the safe deposit box.

And serial number 001 of 500, First Production Run, Buck Strider Mini Spearpoint, in BG-42. In the safe deposit box.

And I have serial number 424/500, First Production Run, Buck Strider Mini Spearpoint, in BG-42, in my right front pocket.

Y'all take care.

Steve
