First Production Run BK16

Good afternoon folks,

I have a bit of a dilemma, I recently acquired a First Production Run BK16 and slapped some micarta scales on it. It's so damn sexy, I am hesitating on actually using it. So my dilemma is this...do I just say screw it and use the heck out of this knife or do I just keep it, handle it occasionally and admire the awesome aesthetic of it?

I can always buy a flat ground one and use that, but I can't always buy a saber ground 1st production run.

Yeah gotta agree; although they’re a little hard to come by, it’s not like it’s gonna be worth thousands of dollars in the future. Use it!

Once you pulled the scales and added micarta, it was no longer nib.
Might as well get some use out of it now.

Becker knives are work horses not show horses but I do appreciate the concept of a user and a keeper.

In the last year or so, I hunted down and bought a brand new BK1, BK6, BK20, and BK29. All have been used.

It's completely your choice ... but the rest the Beckers in the neighborhood may make fun of it and call it names.

I hate to see a good Becker cry ...

Get a FFG model and use it. Better cutter.
Worry about the FPR another time.

I appreciate all the input and replies. I think I am going to pick up a FFG as a user and for the time being, leave the FPR on the back burner.

Well worn knives always look sexier.

Hell yes, beat on it like it stole something. These knives were made to be used. "Knives that work for a living". Why even buy micarta, etc, if you didn't want to use it? Make it prettier so you're less likely to use it?

I had an FPR, sat there until I couldn't bear it anymore and I released it back into the wild. Hope it's out there cutting stuff. Becker safe queens aren't for me but I don't blame anyone that have em.
