Hello my fellow knife nuts... This is my first post to this forum and I wanted to say hello. My name is Ryan and like many of you, for the last year or so ive collected more knives than I could ever possibly use in my whole lifetime haha... Anyways I have a quick question for ya guys. I bought a Kershaw Skyline and a Benchmade Pika a while back and they are both first production runs 1 out of 500. Now I know neither of these knives are super luxurious however I was wondering if you guys think either might be worth anything in the future. The reason I ask is because I would really like to EDC the Skyline but I wanted to make sure I didnt kick myself later.

I have EDC'd every FP run knife I have ever owned. Unless it is a special or sprint run with a low production no# I wouldn't worry about it.;)

The FPR on the skyline means that it was just 1 of the first 500 (all of the first 500 are named 1 of 500). The benchmade's numbers mean just what they are--numbered sequentially to the last one (different from the skyline). I hope that makes sense.

Ya that does make sense thanks guys and I did realize that it was 1 out of 500 and not the first made out of 500, I was just thinking that it may be worth something someday just because it was first production run... Hey a guy was telling me the other day that a lot of knife manufacturers use different steels for their first production runs. Anyone know if Kershaw or Benchmade or any other manufacturers are know to do that?

Kershaw uses a variety of different steels in limited runs, the first production run of a model will have the same steel as the regular production model though.
