First Production Run

Hi there, a quick question from a newbie. Just bought a Buck Alpha Hunter, blade marked 'First Production Run 1 of 2500' . Are the knives sequentially numbered or are they all (as I suspect) marked '1 of'. How collectable are first runs?

It is more common for manufacturers to put that kind of etching on the blades of the first 500 but, apparently, Buck runs them longer. I'm not aware of any (there could be some, of course) collectors who collect first production run knives. So they haven't added any value to a knife in a meaningful way. For something to be collectible there must first be collectors interested in it. Perhaps you could start a trend.
