I got a BM 890 after watching a couple videos online about them. They seemed very cool.
I purchased the 890 Torrent since it turned me on. When I got it I flipped it bit and put it away.
Today I was watching videos on some of my knives I've bought this year and one thing stood out. The blades in the two videos were both stamped as ** out of **** meaning first production run I guess.
I'm not really a "collector" like many here but I do have about 25 assorted knives and I like almost all of them a lot.
I pulled out my BM890 and it wasn't all glossy looky like the video knives, but rather dull and having 100's of barely visible vertical striations making it dull - not mirror like.
I also became more interested when their knives (in the videos) fired with an authoritative, metallic crack. Mine gets out there but not nearly as fast and has a kind of hollow thunk sound to it when it locks up - lame.
I was happy with it but after seeing all of that I find myself with buyer's remorse.
If I want something to collect a knife that looks / works as depicted in some of the videos, should I be looking at first production run knives?
Also, they quote prices for 1st productions of about $35 - 40 less than is available online anywhere - what am I missing?
Thanks for any remarks on this. I'd appreciate any knowledge you'd like to share with me.
