Well after 3 hacksaw blades, numerous hours of filing (more than 8) and several hours of sanding, here it is:

It did change from my initial design, due to all the boo-boo's, but it was and continues to be a great learning experience. Another question, what grit do I sand to before sending it to be hardened? I just finished with 100 grit.

Thanks for all your input and advice

BTW, I got a couple blisters and a sore grip with all that filing and sanding, so I just ordered my christmas present, a Coote's 2x6x72" grinder

WOW!!! Great job, looking at the pic! Take your blade to at least 220. Some knifemakers I know go right to 400. Take the time NOW to sand. When the blade is hard if you have any 100 grit scratches in it you'll with you sanded them out before heat treat!!! Oh, Make sure all drilling and such is done too.

Wow. that looks incredibly good!! I agree..sand now, go to at least 400 if not 600, drill all pin and weight reducing holes now. Also, psand the profiles of the blade smooth, like the handles and blade shape, etc where you used a hacksaw to cut it. get all of the edges smooth now while the steel is still soft!

damm good job! learning how to cover up boo boos is how we develop our own style. 220grit, and clean the tang down to at least 180grit evenly or it my warp during heat treat. i like the way you added in the belly, it's a mean looking curve to the edge.
