So far I love this knife. I can't wait to dress out my first deer of the season with it. And Bear if I'm lucky enough to get one. I gotta get a model 23 and a model 5-5 too. Tomorrow if I get time I'm gonna try some fuzz sticks to get a few scratches in her. I love there sheaths to by the way.

I got the O1 tool steel also. The handles feel great and is a good size. I bet with gloves on it will be fine also.

Oh my, now you're doomed! You'll start with one, then another, and another...

Someday you'll look around and realize the kids moved out, the spouse moved on, and the pets headed to Kansas...

Then, and only then, will you realize how addicting RMK's can be. (Don't ask how I know all this; Toto, is that you?)

Nice score BTW... :D

I got my first Randall today too. A model 1-7 with leather handles, and stainless blade with lanyard hole. I love this knife, and am afraid to use it, since I have always wanted one. But whats the point of owning it and nit using it

I remember getting my 1st (& only-so far) Randall, a stag 8-4 ca. 1980. Spent hours just holding and admiring it, then once it got dirty & used repeatedly it became the seed for my admiration of the well crafted hand made knife. I still own it, and while it doesn't see nearly as much action as it did in the past, the patina on the blade, the extra smoothing of the handle, and even the sheath wear brings back memories of past adventures and good times. I know collectors may cringe at scratches and stains, but to me that shows character. Congrats on your new blade and I hope it serves you well. Now if I could have one 'r two of each model.....

You have to use it ! You will appreciate even more and it will feel like yours more after it gets a few beauty marks. After I dressed out my buck and got the blood patina and stuff I feel like it's even more of a great knife and feel what the company is all about. Weird I know but the more I use it the more I love it. I got a second randall a modell 14 and took it to bear camp hunting and built fires and a brush blind and also got the whole feeling with that one. Trust me use them!! I'm sure Bo would approve :)

I agree with this. Randalls are great to look at, even better to use.

I used my model 3 to make fuzz sticks and my swamp rat RMD ( one of my favorite knives ) and the randall was better I assume do to the grind. I have a model 28 coming I got in a trade also. Can't wait.

I am going to purchase another 1-7 with stag handles, so my Randall collection ha jumped to 2. The 1-7 with leather handles and stainless blade will be my user, hiking knife, and the stag will be the one I fondle when no ones around:)

wow that is a beauty!!! I have my model 28 coming on Monday and plan on making it my go knife for Hunting and Hiking. Main thing is to get a few scratches on it like you said and break the ice lol

Best of Luck

Dan
