First Randall

Good evening,

Went to look at kayaks two weeks ago - did not get a kayak but did handle a bunch of Randalls for the first time. This was my favorite..

...and is my first Randall knife. Was told it is a "Sportsman Bowie" it is 6 inches [blade] but I do not know the model #. In any event, great knife - will probably "need" more - hoping this does not turn into a new hobby!

Yep, it's a Model #12 'Sportsman's Bowie' with a six inch blade (a nine inch blade is available too, but it's so much larger overall that it's a completely different knife) - the #12-6 is rarely seen, so you did well with your first purchase. Congrats, may you buy many more in the years to come.

You did well. As "Melvin" noted, you don't see a lot of these. Not sure why, because it's always been a favorite of mine too.

The model 12-6 Sportsman was one of my favorites when I first started collecting Randalls. I'm having trouble downloading pictures otherwise I'd post a picture.
