First range trip with reloads

Hi guys,
Finally got a chance to get to the range awhile back to try out my first batch of reloads. I have been learning about the AR15 & shooting for the past couple years. With ammo becoming scarce & expensive I decided to take the plunge & start reloading. This is the second rifle I built, nothing fancy, but it works well. The barrel is from WOA & I'm really happy with it. For the money I think John's barrels & tuned triggers are hard to beat. Here is a picture of it & my best of 3 targets from my first batch of reloads. The others measured .721 for 6 shots & 1.085 for 11 shots. Still tons to learn, but feel like I'm off to a pretty good start.

Thanks for looking,
Jason

So many knife people have a love for things that go 'bang'....I need to explore this other side.

You must be happy with that. I use almost that same load for my 69's and 80's

I was definately pleased. I knew this rifle shot anything Blackhills from 52gr to 77gr pretty well. It really seemed to like the 69gr Matchkings so I figured I'd start there. It's finally starting to warm up a little here in Kansas so hopefully I'll get a little more range time in the near future.

Hell of a group! I mean... that is a hell of a group for a BOLT ACTION!!! Much less an semi-auto.

Do us a favor and post a link to the BBL manufacturer. I may have to get one of those.

Well heck, that's definitely close enough for gov't work. ;)

Very nice.

I love the satisfaction I feel from handloading rifle ammo. It's a nice feeling to see it perform on paper, and an even nicer feeling when it is used to blow up prairie dogs or to take larger game.

Although not shot from a semi-auto rifle, this is how my antelope hunting load performs:

I had a crappy range day once, and the group became twice as big:

I have taken three antelopes thus far with this rifle+load, and all have been at 200+ yards and with a single shot.

Thanks Dr. Lunde. With you behind that Cooper, I have a feeling even the fleas on those varmits better be scared!!

You call that a group??!! Why my blind granny could beat that with a shotgun. ;) :D

Seriously, nice shootin' and thanks for sharing.

Fixed it for you. :D

Seriously nice gun, looks like you found/made a good load for it.

Nice AR. I started reloading last year on a RCBS Rockchucker. Over the weekend I finished setting up my Dillon 650 with bells and whistles set up for 9mm, .45 and .223

For precision stuff I used my Rockchucker to feed my AR and upcoming bolt gun project.

Reloading is a hobby in its own.

Very nice group/shooting.

Did you have any feed issues with the RL's?

So far, so good. No feeding issues, and the all cycled the action. Looks like it might be in the 70's on Wednesday so I might have a chance to get out and try a larger batch.
