Relatively new to the forum and similarly new to RAT. Was looking for something to carry as my daily abuser and after a couple months was unable to find anything that fit the "heavy use" category as well as RAT, based on reviews and design quality. The absolutely stellar reputation of RAT and it's founders made the decision that much easier. My RC-5 should be here within the week and then it's off to the field. I'm currently at TBS and soon headed to the Infantry Officers Course so it should get a significant amount of usage. I'll be sure to pass on my impressions as well as anecdotes from unusual work situations (ie. mine field clearing, MRE preparation, forest denuding, etc., basically all the things for which the Marine Corps is known and loved). Look for more Marine converts to soon join the ranks as soon as they see the 5" She-Devil in action.

pick up an izula or hest too.... as a companion to the 5.... the rc5 is a beast but isnt the best slicer.... the combo togeather will tackle about any thing you throw at it

Thank you for your service rkwallace and enjoy your RAT , also if it gets to be a bit of a burden lugging around that beast of a knife you may prefer the RC-4, its thinner and lighter.

Thank you, and congrats on the RC-5. It is one indestructible knife.

Thanks for your service rkwallace!

The RC-5 will serve you well. It's built like a tank!

Look forward to usage reports.

Keep safe my friend!

The size/weight of the 5 is what sent me that direction since situation doesn't always allow me to grab a pry bar or splitting maul prior to needing something for those functions. For my small slicing needs I've used the blade on my Leatherman which has surprised me with it's efficacy. I love the poster, Suicide FO. Were you a JTAC?

Knife came in the mail last night and wife dropped it off at base to me. Wow. Headed to the field tonight with possibility of usage, will advise as to impressions.

Had to cut down a couple saplings for use in a shelter. Surprisingly efficient, likely due to the heft. Love the micarta. Many of the Marines in my unit are asking for the order form.
