I'm looking to buy my first Rat, but can't decide on which one. I've narrowed it down to the Izula, H.E.S.T., and the RC-3 special edition. I plan on using the one I pick as an EDCer, for work (I'm an electrician), hunting, fishing, trekking in the woods (I live in beautiful West Virginia) and when needed self defense weapon which I hope never happens. Pretty much just a constant companion. So which one would you Rataholics recommend?

Thanks,
Dave

Well, I started with an Izula and then went to an RC4.

I vote Izula. Its a great knife. And its thin enough to actually carry in your pocket! I do often! But its tough as nails and has the flexibility of paracord wrapping or not.

Hey WVDAVE I am also an electrician here in Denver. It doesn't matter which one you get because you will have to have one of each before it is all over.

LOL , None of the RAT line up is insulated so...well your electricians ... I would start with an Izula & go to the RC4 or RC6 next and then it rolls down hill from there.....

I went Izula, RC-5, HEST. and Im waiting on the RC-10 and RC-3 RAT pack edition.... I would get the Izula 1st, then go from there.

Hmmmm all the electrictions I know make six figures a year. Buy the Izula,Hest and RC something all at once reach in them pockets man :)

I would but.... that would cost me half my pension when the little misses found out. One at a time it's easier to slip it by her that way.

I hear ya so I would get the Hest small with decent blade length. You maynot get another :) But it's a WORK tool you should be able to buy WORK tools ;)

Bad time..no work. Last year there was @40 tower cranes in Seattle /Bellvue area. Remember I said "Sparkies I know" But I believe scale is @ $44. But co$t of living is high. Doesn't matter what you make it's the ratio of living expense vs wage.

Our scale is $30.00/HR, but work is slow right now. We got brothers sitting on the book, waiting. I hope to be out in the next week or two. Anyway I'm getting off topic here. It seems that alot of you guys are recommending the Izula so i guess that's the way I'm going to go , maybe. (Decisions, decisions they all look so sexy, maybe I'll go ahead and get the H.E.S.T. or the RC 3)

If you are using it for work. Really the Izula is most likely all you will need. For cutting boxes maybe stripping wire, cutting smurf?? Whatever , it's a good knife and not to much $$
