My wife got me an OD Izula for my birthday. Its awesome, I can't wait to put it to good use. I already got the go-ahead to buy a big brother for it, but I can't decide on the 3 or 4. I'll probably go with the 4 first and then get a 3mil later. I want an OD blade to match the Izula, but I don't care for the orange handles, is there a way to get a green blade with black handles?

Heres a pic. Hopefully it won't be this new looking for long. It will probably do more kitchen duty for now, but come springtime, its gonna be with me all the time in the woods.

I thought about wrapping it, but I kind of like the idea of a nekkid knife. I'm a little wierd about getting food stuff and fish guts and the like in the paracord wrap. I'm not gonna stick this knife in a droor and look at it. This baby's gettin' used!

Not at this time. You could make your own or have someone make a set for you

Finding someone to trade with is in theory possible, but there are issues with swapping scales. They're fitted to the knives, and when trading them, don't always match up properly. That said, there are people out there who like the orange/black scheme.
 
Id keep the IZULA as an EDC knife and use it for stuff that doesnt include fish guts and blood especially if you wrap it cause then you'll be unwrapping it an awful lot to clean your smelly paracord. However if you keep it unwrapped it will do fine, just might get a little slippery when wet and when theres blood on the handle. I would get the RC3 for your smaller camping tasks and the RC6 for the bigger ones. The RC4 is the same thickness as the RC6 but the RC6 is longer so for a camp knife you might as well skip the 4 and get the 6.

Just my opinion but i dont share the love for the RC4 like allot of other people here. Im sure its a great knife but i dont see the point in getting it if i can get the RC6 instead. I already have an IZULA to pair with the 6 so just my .2
 
Nice knife, hope to get one pretty soon for my birthday as well, really like the magazine its on. I try to get wilderness ways and the Backwoodsman everytime I see a new issue out. Really good stuff in there.
 
Those are about my two favorite mags too. I used to buy gun and knife magazines a lot, but it seems that they all started talking about all the same old stuff over and over. Mother earth news is another good one.

I think I'm going to get the RC4 in od/orange and pick up a set of black g10 slabs and make my own set of scales so I can switch if I need to. Or maybe I'll get a black one too and just swap scales? (if one is good two is better, right?)

I agree. I like my wrap but I worry about gunk in there that will get all nasty

I haven't been cutting much food with it but when I do the wrap's coming off
 
If you are worried about the nasty stuff getting on your wrap, you could always epoxy the cord.
 
sounds like your wife can pick out a good knife.

ive never heard about epoxying the cord on the handle. guess ill have to look into that too
