I'll be getting my first real folder this month ... I've carried a pocket knife for nearly 40 years, but I'm looking towards a tactical type folder now. I've narrowed my selction down to 4 knives; 1) Mini-Rukus, 2) Emerson SOCFK, 3) MOD ATFK or 4) MOD Hornet. The first 2, I'm fairly familiar with the lock type and have read a lot in the forums regarding the pros & cons.

However, I'm not familiar with the button type lock on the MOD knives. I've read some in the forums regarding the Hornet and it's lock ... not good reviews, but this was from several years ago. I would think that MOD would have improved this by now. Can any of you give me some perspective on the MOD button type lock and its performance now?

Thanks guys.

I didn't read your thread (sorry lol), but just by reading the title I would tell you Benchmade Griptilian.

I have a Mini Rukus in my rotation and I love it. I don't have any experience with the other knives, so I can't be of much help. One thing about the Rukus is it may seem fairly heavy compared to other knives, but it doesn't bother me one bit, it's just noticeable.

The Rukus is pretty darn thick, you should also look at the Benchmade 705, 707, and 710 they are great thin knives for edc. The Griptillian is an excellent budget folder, I have seen a lot of emerson folder problem threads recently, might wanna go check out the emerson forum. The axis lock is a great choice too, frame and axis are my personal faves.

Best of Luck to you.
