I think that this is what happens when you sit a table away from someone like Mr. Ted Dowell at the Knifemakers Guild Show. Charlie took an informal poll and the overwhelming responce was that the knife needed stag handles. That is what it got, along with black liners. The learning curve here was loooooong.
The knife is made of D2 steel, with stainless bolts. The blade is flat ground with a Moran type edge. This knife was months in the planning and resulted in about 1.25 pounds of dust and chips on the floor. He weighed it before and after just to see.
In this view I tried to show the tapered tang and fit of the stag scales. The blade has a distal taper that flows into the guard, with the "plunge cut" creating the front surface of the guard.
Hope you like it!
