Hey, I'm looking for a first responders knife to use once I get my paramedics. I was looking at Benchmade 916 Triage Rescue Knife, SW911N Smith & Wesson First Response Rescue Knife Seatbelt Cutter, and the Victorinox Swiss Army Rescue Tool. I want to know if there are any knives that are better than these ones, and if not which one of these are the best ones.

Thanks,
Andrew

As a Volunteer EMT for 23 years, I initially tried several different knives for use on scene. About 15 years ago, I settled on carrying 2, a Buck 110 for general cutting and this one (or very similar to it, mine is 15 years old - :D ) from Gall's ::

It's a little challenging to sharpen, but since it was not used daily, sharpening is not frequent. You don't have to worry about accidentlly cutting the patient and it is easy to use regardless of what position the vehicle is in.

The buck and the GSC (Gall's Seatbelt Cutter) stayed on my duty belt in their holsters, so I'd actually have them plus what ever I was EDCing that day. I always had something to fit the task.

You can't go wrong with the Benchmade Triage. I started off with the Gerber Hinderer, and the upgraded to the Benchmade. I do wish they would put an oxygen tank key on it, the Gerber had one.
