Is there any way to tell a first run Maxx Bowie from the later runs without taking a micrometer to the scales? I am fairly sure mine is from the first batch, but it would be nice to know for sure. Did anything else change? Markings, maybe?
as far as the older bowie blade maxxs vs the new ones- i cant tell you.
but the stilletto bladed bad boys seem quite a bit lighter,and thinner as well. i thought the first one was perfect-but the stilletto takes the cake. these things are gorgeous!!!
and if you own both,you can tell a difference just by feeling them in your hand...
ok will,how about a 4 inch version? or maybe an ******** or a ******** version?
Bob,
The only difference was the thickness of the scales. We originally had thicker scales, but the supplier wasn't quite honest with us about his ability to supply us with enough Ti sheet at that thickness. THere were only less than 200 with the thick scales.
We now use .125" thick stock[plenty thick enough]....and most folks seem to like the new thickness better because of it being easier to carry. I know I do
Just broke out my new digital micrometer and have been measuring everything in sight. Just put it on my Cuda MAXX and here is what I came up with;
scales are .123"
blade is .129"
lock is .122"
all in all plenty thick for me as it does make the Cuda MAXX an easy to carry knife. It did seem like the end of the locking bar on the first run was a tad thicker than the scales as it had been flared out a little bit. Am I imagining this or was it so. Then again it may be that way on the MADD MAXX.
