I don't know why, but I've never had a SAK, at least I've never had a real one. Even though I was a boy scout for a time, I never bought one or had one given to me. Anyways, I just received my black Vic Pioneer, and I'm liking it. After a quick bath to get rid of the overwhelming coat of oil it was shipped in, it hasn't really left my hands. I only have a few minor issues with it, one being the relative ease of opening the blade (compared to the bottle and can opener), the back spring isn't as flush open as it is closed, and the there is a minor bit of back and forth play on the key ring plate. But those are really minor things. The blade is nice and sharp (not quite hair popping) with no side to side play, and the alox scales are great and the black looks great, I like them much more than the more traditional plastic scales. I like that I have some basic tools on it and it's still slim and pocketable (I've never been able to enjoy carrying a larger leatherman-type tool). I look forward to carrying and using this for the foreseeable future.

my friend, the more you edc that pioneer you will be amazed at how many times it will come in handy. try paring it with a peanut or any good pen knife and you should have most bases covered!

You made a wise choice...one of the very best knives available, and the price won't break your bank account!

I used to EDC a vintage red pioneer. Convex'd that bad boy and there wasn't much it couldn't do. Fantastic knife, and is still in my daily rotation.

congrats, the pioneer/soldier is one of the best edc out there, i can say its all i need from a practical view, but my needs are not all that practical :D

Yeah, I'm never going to stop rotating through my different blades, but I'm definitely looking forward to this one being my obsession for the next couple weeks. I wish they had more color options with the Alox knives.
