My wife just returned from Europe on her Spring Break School trip and gave me a SAK Ranger as a gift! She heard me mention that my small collection needed an SAK. I'm very happy with it as it carries a lot of sentimental value. Now, the SAK bug has bitten me and I'm looking at several other models also. I look forward to carrying it on several turkey hunting/camping trips over the next few months. I see it getting significant carry time. Over the weekend, I tested the cap lifter :D:D:D

I'll try to post a picture soon.

Anyone have any stories of how they started their SAK journey? First model? Feel free to post a pic of your first SAK.

Bought my first SAK, a Champion, in '72-'73. Carried it camping, backpacking and for 3 months hiking/traveling through Europe. It was a constant companion for years. Lost it along with 99% of my collection in the big wildfire of '06.

My first re-bought Champion after the fire was part of a bunch of NOS, no hook SAKs (Champions and Explorers) that were purchased after the fire. It's in an old display sheath that a buddy replaced the loop on. The leather is butter soft! Carried and used this one a lot over the last 8 years. My Swiss Champs have replaced it for EDC.

My SAK journey started with learning about the sheer difference in quality between the cheap chinese junk of childhood, and the genuine Victorinox models. Then I decided that I needed one for my collection, but I had absolutely no idea where to start. The first genuine SAK I ever got was the Recruit off ebay. Ever since then I've been buying so many that I've lost count.

I now try and stay away from ebay as much as possible, knowing that if I start looking for SAKs again, I won't be able to stop without great personal effort.

My SAK journey started when I was serving in the U.S. army. I had been stationed to an engineer base and on weekends was exploring around. In the old city of Rothenburg, I was walking down a cobble stone street, and there in a small shop window was a giant red moving SAK. snide I found a display of all kinds of SAKs. Until then, Ihad been carrying a army issue Camillus MIL-K kife, also known as a 'demo' knife. Basicly an all steel scout knife. The SAK was a bewitching array of tools that I never imagined in a pocket knife. I bought a huntsman on the spot. This was in 1069, and the huntsman has a bail and a clip point pen blade. I carried that SAK for quite q while until it was stolen from me in the barracks. I replaced it with two other SAK's, and over theyears have owned lot so f them. Some given away, some use dup, a few lost in action.
