I'm excited, I won a user Schrade-Walden 8OT on ebay last night and it is my first. The 8OT is probley my favorite Schrade and getting ahold of a Schrade-Walden 8OT is a big deal to me.:D Just had to share my joy. Also if I bid against any of the members here I trust their are no hard feelings. Best wishes and happy hunting. Jim

Congratulations Jim! I just got my first 8OT a few weeks ago. It isn't a Walden, but it is a nice large stockman. Most of my Walden knives are, you guessed it...fixed blades. But I do have a few Walden Old Timer folders.

Don't feel the need for apologizing for winning and auction. Obviously you valued the knife more than the other bidders. While we Schradophiles try not to cost each other unneccisary money and run up prices unrealistically, there is no law against paying what you feel a knife is worth to you. I am willing to bet that SW made more than one or two of those between 1958 and 1973. No, I was not a bidder on your knife, but if I had been, it would not have mattered to me. This was one of the first lessons LT632RET graced me with when I began searching for a reasonably priced 160OT last year. Sure enough, two- a user and a mint one fell into my hands at good prices not long after. Congrats again! No pics? (link will do!)

Good for you! I don't think I was bidding on that, but you are so happy with your purchase, I could care less.

I got a 'new' 8OT as well this week. Here is a pic. Yep, a Craftsman in the old style clear plastic box. The same Delrin color as used on the sawcut Schrade, but these handles are jigged. Still, anyone here, with their eyes closed, would ID this for what it really is.

Nice knife Tex. I have a old Craftsman scout knife with scales that are similiar. I am tickled to have this "new to me knife" on the way. My wife was less than impressed but I try not to hold here lack of apperication against her.;)
Codger, I have had zero luck posting pics, I end up with the red x. Once the Schrade-Walden arrives I will ask my wife to help me "she is much better with computers than I am" and try to post a pic or two. How about a pic of my Schrade- Walden with my 165 Deerhunter.
Thanks for the replies guys . Jim

Jim,
To post a picture on BF using their service you need to be a member.
If you want to post a picture and are not a member you can use a bunch of free web sites to store the picture for you and then put a link to it in the BF thread.
Sounds hard but after the 1st time its easy.

P.S.
I'll also post picts for you if you can email em to me.

So you're the one who beat me. Relax, just kidding. Congratulations, that is a great knife. It was always an incredible value when they used to sell them in the stores. But I bet you that won't be your last Old Timer. Better buy them before the price goes even higher.

At this point I have all of the OT patterns that sell at reasonable prices. My next step might be to collect knives of the same pattern with the various tang stamps - Shrade-Walden, Shrade USA, Schrade +.

If you're collecting Seniors, keep an eye open for an 8OT with the "Schrade USA" tang stamp, "Keen Kutter" etching, and French nail nick.

Happy collecting,
-Bob

My Schrade-Walden arrived yesterday. I'll try to post a picture later today.
