Wow! I've been a lurker here for quite some time, but this is my first post. I've had some pretty OK knives for awhile: I love my Spyderco Lum Chinese Folder, and the Kershaw Onions, and BM Grips, so I never saw the need for high end production knives.

That's all changed! My wife gave me a computer graphic small sebbie (trailing moon) for our anniversary, and it ROCKS! It's so simple and beautiful, the elegant framelock, the super easy take apart-clean-and reassemble (thanks Ted Voorde), the nice S30V blade.

I also got the stock black leather case, that's a beaut as well (thanks GFeller)! They both live in my Fatboy and go everywhere.

I was afraid that once I got a knife that costs hundreds of dollars (I think my Lum folder was the most expensive knife I bought previously), I would baby it and never use it, but I started out with the ideer that this would be a user, and it's fantastic.

Thanks Chris Reeve, and everyone here too, for helping to convince me to get a Sebenza! Not sure about crossing the next line to customs, tho!

SpydieFan, did you get one yet?

Daloosh...you can get into some really fantastic customs here for a very reasonable price (usually less than $150 and fixed blade), but you have to know where to look. PM me if interested.

By the way, congrats on your first Sebbie. It won't be your last.

Thanks Mellow Chaos, we just got our first home, I think there's a new toy moratorium on right now, all fundage is going into fixing up the place. I'm afraid I have been peeking at Mnandis and gazing wondrously at Lochsas, but that's a pipe dream!

Appreciate the warm welcomes, guys!

First of all congrats and welcome! Secondly, you're smart to prioritize the "fundage" (my Wife and I call it that as well :D ) because fixing up a house can be a very expensive endeavor. Be patient and you'll get your chance one day. BTW, I highly recommend you consider the Mnandi when your chance comes. ;)

Thanks trane fan!

This fixing thing is costing way more than we thought! I had no idea that a glass shower enclosure could cost over $1500. The frameless one was $3K! Or that a Corian-type double sink could be almost a grand. Super sticker shock here!

Being an office worker type, the Mnandi looks to be slim and elegant and useful. Wow, dude, five Mnandi, you're rolling in 'em!

I know how you feel.I use the income tax refund every year to do home inprovements.
My mom just got some cash left to her by her aunt and with the roof, replaceing all the paneling, ceiling, kichen cabinets, windows and getting hard wood floors she has spent right at 30 K.This was with my bother in law,dad and myself doing the labor.
I am looking at getting replacement windows(getting price tomarrow) I am thinking they will be around 3 K.Hopeing they will reduce my gas bill enough to pay for themselves quickly. My city has one of the highest gas rates in the state.

Good luck with the winders u812. 30K sounds great for all that work. We have no skill, so it looks like 20+K of work before we move in, just a master bath, fix the kitchen ceiling, paint & carpet.

Back on topic, when I first got it, I did a cleaning, which was excellent - going by Ted's instructions. The Sebbie is so simple, it's classic!

thanks again all

What exactly does the date on the Sebenza paperwork signify? Manufactured date? Date it was sent from Chris Reeve Shop?

Hmm. Good question. Being a noob, I dunno, but I've always heard the date printed on the paperwork as being the birthdate of the knife.

daloosh - good to see you here, and congratulations on becoming a CRK knife owner. Won't be your last ;)

Thanks Goodmanfj and Geode! I met Chris Reeve yesterday at SHOT, and he was very gracious!

(my wife is awesome, but she's not giving much ground on the plasma we can't afford!)

Since at least some parts are done ahead of time, I imagine the date on the card is when it has finished assembly, QA/QC and ready to ship.
