First Sebenza, a couple questions.

I just received my first Sebenza today. I just have a couple questions. I have not seen this packaging before. When did they start using this packaging? Is the signature on the card supposed to be printed from a computer? It definitely is not a real signature. I have no idea if they are supposed to actually be signed or not. Is the empty spot in the foam supposed to be a empty spot? I did not get a picture, but is the Large 21 supposed to have the rings cut out around the stop pin to prevent lint build up? Mine does not. Sorry for all the questions, but if you guys can help it would be very much appreciated.

These are the newer box and yes the signature is stamped. The extra space in the foam is for Loc-Tite when such knives call for it(Seb 25, Umnumzaan). No worries everything in your pix look good. Stop pin cutouts are normally reserved for embellished Sebenzas.
Hope this helps

Very much so. Thank you so much.

Relax and enjoy a great knife, but God I hate the new box. Never been so frustrated trying to shove a piece of foam with papers and a cloth back into a box trying not to destroy it.

Ha. That's what I've been saying the past couple of days opening my new to me CRKs.

The more you use it, and see the finer details in the design, the more you will like it! Nice choice for your first crk:thumbup:
Also: keep the box in case you ever decide to sell the knife!

It is already growing on me in the 7 hours I have had it so its looking good for the 21.

I really hate the lanyard though. I want to take it off, but keep the pin. I am not really wanting to take the knife apart yet though. Any easy way of getting it out to remove the lanyard and burn a small piece of cord then replace it?

The regular 21 does not come with a sheath. None of my Umnumzaans, 21s or 25s came with one, but others will have to chime in as to whether or not the Damascus, or unique graphics, or inlaid ones (other than micarta, such as Mammoth Bark or exotic woods) come with them.

You can easily get them, however. There is a "slip" type sheath that is designed to hold the closed knife in your pocket and protect it, and if you want to take the clip off you can do so and get a Ti spacer CRK makes (a "clip insert") to fill the gap left from taking the clip off. They are dark brown (the slip case) and work very well. You do not have to take the clip off the knife to use one. I never have but others do.

There is also a traditional belt-type sheath, available in tan and black.

You'll find both on CRK's web site under "extras" on the main page at the bottom. Gfeller Case Makers makes them, and they are very high quality.

I know I can buy one if I like, but for the price it should come with one in my opinion. I'm not spending $30-$50 on top of the price of the knife for the sheath.

The only CRKs I have that came with the leather slip sheath were the Mnandis. I have never had a sheath come with any Sebenza or Umnumzaan. :)

Even if you don't fall in love with your Sebenza at first I suggest you give it some time. I bought mine a year ago, and I didn't really start to appreciate it until just a couple months ago. It has not left my pocket since then.

I've received a sheath with the snakewood damascus Sebenza I last purchased. My plane insingo did not come with one.

My graphic small came with a slip sheath and polished blade. They are an upgrade you have to pay extra for if you buy a plain. You also pay for it when you buy the graphic knife but the extra cost is part of the higher original cost. I only use mine to store the knife when not in use.
