First Sebenza questions?

Got a Bocote Inlay classic small Sebenza yesterday. This is a really elegant tool. have a couple of questions: 1.) I'm somewhat conflicted about the clip. Can appreciate that the clip is very well designed in terms of making losing one of these out of a pocket pretty un-likely. Does anyone make a shorter clip for these knives? My regular carry for years has been in the watch pocket of my jeans and the Sebenza clip is long enough to clip my right pocket closed . 2.) Like absolutly every other metal scaled knife I've ever handeled - these things are slippery - which I find really anoying. The wood inlay doesn't help this much and I'm trying to figure out if I should just chip it out and slap some rubbery tennis racket grip tape on it or sell the thing and get the micrata inlay model. Obvious question - just how rough and grippy is CR's micrata on these knives?3.) Final question -other than making warranty a non-issue -does anyone know what will happen if I bake the titanium scales a couple of times for 10.min. in the oven @300Deg. F? Would remove wood onlays first of course.

Before chipping out the inlays or baking the Seb an oven as you posted, I would sell it and purchase a plain Seb or one with micarta inlay. No use destroying a beautiful knife when what you really want is available through many dealers or here in the Knife Exchange...

I agree. With the adhesive that CRK uses on the inlays I don't think you can remove them without completely destroying them. I would sell it and get the micarta version as the micarta and titanium are both bead blasted and should give a firmer grip. You could get a basic version and use some 3M Stair Tape on each side and get the grip your after.

BTW; you will probably have to have a custom clip made if you want something shorter. Try looking in the Makers section and go to STR's forum as he should be able to set you up with something.

The Micarta inlay isn't very grippy. IMHO. Not as grippy as the Micarta scales on some of my other knives. But, the inlay does make the handle a little wider and that is helpful sometimes.

Maybe you could have CR remove the inlay and you could put skateboard tape in the cutouts?

Took the advice -trading for a slab sided version -then will probably grip tape it - not a criticism of CR knives -simply put my 60 year old mits like something easier to grab hold of.
