After much research and saving I am ready to buy my first CRK. I decided on the large Sebenza 21. I am really torn on getting the classic model or the CF model. Does anyone have any advice on which to purchase? Thanks

I'd go with the classic. It is truly an icon of the knife world. It's THE Sebenza, as Chris Reeve designed it. You have the rest of your life to collect fancy ones. The classic should be your first.

Just my two cents.

For the most part, it's a matter of personal taste. I've got both and like both very much. I would suggest reading the thread about the CF 21's and see why some don't care for them.
Personally, I'd go with the plane jane or a micarta inlay. Even though I love carbon fiber and the two I have are without issue, I think you won't have any issues with the plane jane or micarta. From a economic choice, the plane jane is your best bet.
You'll have to post pics when you make that choice and show off Your CRK. :D

I agree, plain or micarta is the way to go. The known issues with the CF make me hesitant.

I found a couple threads about the washer having an issue with the CF. Does anyone have the link to the thread?

One thing to keep in mind with the CF is it's very slick. Could be a deciding factor if it matters to you.

I have a small CF and it's awesome. The CF scale makes it uber light. Also, I think it makes for a more solid sounding lockup. Almost like it's the sound magnifying through a tunnel. Never had a problem with the washer, but I've only had it for a month so I can't say 100%.
If you can get your hands on a classic for a good price though, go for it. Chances are you won't stop at your first CRK, so just get both.

This is probably the most accurate and honest response you'll get. There's no way you'll stop at 1 CRK. It's impossible.

I was recently torn between a small Inkosi and a small CF Sebenza 21. Agonized over it for a week. Posted questions on the forums and got a lot of feedback. Ended up buying the Inkosi, then 2 days later saw a small CF 21 on the exchange...and bought it.

It's a disease.

Classic for sure...

I love CF, but I'm in agreement with the others...

This is your first CRK, I doubt it will be your last.

I'm the proud owner of only one CRK (small Sebenza 21) but I'm already wanting another.

You going with the drop point or Insingo?

Winner either way, I'm just curious.

Congrats in advance, whatever your choice.

Classic. Get the original design first then branch out....... My first Sebenza was a Large Regular with BG-42 blade. I got spoiled from day one.

So what's the verdict after holding both? Inkosi or Small Sebenza? I'm having the same dilemma but I can't get both. I'm leaning towards the Inkosi.

I have the Inkosi in hand. The small CF Sebenza arrives tomorrow or Tueday - I'll be sure to share some thoughts after I receive it.
